One device, two different functions
Time attendance records when people work. Access control determines who may pass through which door. Sharing a terminal does not mean timesheets, work schedules, door permissions and HR data exports are all complete out of the box.
The DS-K1T342EFWX datasheet lists support for face, card and fingerprint; EM 125 kHz cards and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi are stated for this specific model. Other DS-K1T342 variants must be checked against their own datasheets. Do not choose by product line name and assume every authentication method is included.
From terminal to door system
The manufacturer’s documentation lists lock control, exit button, door contact and various interfaces. That does not replace the design of locks, wiring, power and emergency scenarios. Survey recommendation: determine the door/lock type, behaviour during a power outage, the door-release button, backup power and the site’s emergency-exit requirements.
The datasheet mentions the Hik-ProConnect and HikCentral Professional platforms. The ability to export timesheets or connect to HR software must be confirmed by version, module and licence; it should not be treated as ready-made integration with every HRM system.
Authentication data must be managed
Operational recommendation: define the administrator, the purpose of data storage, permissions, retention period and the procedure when an employee leaves. Do not use this guide as a legal conclusion on biometric data; check the requirements that apply specifically to your business.
Conditions to check during deployment
Confirm the exact model/firmware, mounting position, lighting on faces, user groups and fallback methods. Test the enrolment, door-opening, network/power-loss and data-export procedures. Do not turn the maximum values or rates published by the manufacturer into performance promises at the site.
